Durante el 4 y 5 de septiembre, 611 niño/as y jóvenes con discapacidad intelectual de 28 escuelas diferenciales, se encontraron para compartir y competir en el Campeonato Metropolitano de Atletismo de Olimpiadas Especiales Chile.
El campeonato contó con el apoyo técnico de la Federación Atlética de Chile - Fedachi, con pruebas de velocidad, salto largo, lanzamiento y relevos, organizadas por series equitativas, con las cuales los/as atletas se agrupan por su nivel de habilidad, para que la competencia sea lo más justa posible.
Las competencias contaron con jueces oficiales de Fedachi y un sistema de cronometraje electrónico para la medición de las carreras. Además, se sumó un staff especializado de voluntariado en competencias para apoyar y guiar a los/as atletas.
